Women’s Wrestling Performs Strongly in Inaugural Meet at East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Highlighted by 12 total wins and a fifth-place individual performance, the University of Bridgeport's women's wrestling team made its 2025-26 season debut on Sunday at the East Stroudsburg Open. UB finished tied for 17^th out of 32 programs.

TEAM HIGHLIGHTS

The Purple Knights turned in a strong showing in their first-ever competition, earning a total of 12 victories.

Sophomore Lindsey Rywolt made program history with UB's first-ever win and went on to place fifth at 124 lbs, finishing with a 6-1 record that included five falls and one technical fall. She picked up a trio of victories over regionally ranked opponents, including Elmira's Megan Edwards (#2) and Sacred Heart's Lauren Nguyen (#4).

Freshman Jelene Lainez also recorded multiple wins, going 2-2 at 145 lbs with one fall and one technical fall.

Fellow freshmen Idalia Lopez, Hoshena Gemme, Olivia Hopkins, and Linette Diaz each added victories to round out a promising day for the Purple Knights in their debut competition.
