Women's Wrestling Shines at Millersville Open

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Returning to tournament-format action for the second time this year, the University of Bridgeport's women's wrestling team showcased numerous impressive performances at the Millersville Women's Collegiate Open on Sunday. The Purple Knights ended the meet with 27 total points to finish third out of 15 programs.

INDIVIDUAL HIGHLIGHTS
The Purple Knights turned in another strong outing on Sunday, collecting 18 total wins highlighted by three individual championships and a fourth-place finish.

Sophomore Lindsey Rywolt continued her dominant season by rolling to the 124-pound title with four straight 10-0 tech falls, improving her record to 12-1 this year with five pins and seven techs.

Kanyah McCarthy (138 lbs) and Hoshena Gemme (160 lbs) also claimed titles after perfect 3-0 efforts in their respective brackets.

Jelene Lainez added to the team's podium presence with a fourth-place finish at 145 pounds.

Olivia Hopkins contributed two pins on the day, while Linette Diaz delivered both a pin and a tech fall to boost UB's total.
