Women's Wrestling Opens Second Semester at Alfred State Open

FULL RESULTS

ALFRED, N.Y. – Following a month break to close out the fall semester, the University of Bridgeport's women's wrestling team returned to the mats on Sunday at the Alfred State Open.

UB's three competitors enjoyed a terrific day as they combined for 10 victories and all finished inside the top four of their respective brackets.

Sophomore Lindsey Rywolt (124 lbs) and freshman Jelene Lainez (145 lbs) paced the Purple Knights with undefeated runs through their tournaments.

Rywolt went a perfect 4-0, earning a pair of pins and a pair of technical falls along the way. With the strong showing, she improved her outstanding season record to 19-3.

Lainez matched Rywolt's 4-0 performance, also posting two pins and two technical falls. Her final two victories were especially dominant, taking a combined 90 seconds to secure pins.

Fellow freshman Callisto Banks added to the Bridgeport effort by finishing fourth at 131 lbs after a 2-3 day in her bracket.
