Rywolt of Women's Wrestling Earns NWCA Scholar All-America Honors
Holds 3.42 cumulative GPA as a nursing major, earned spot at NCAAs, finished year with 24-7 record
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Fresh off a historic appearance at the first-ever NCAA Women's Wrestling Championships, University of Bridgeport sophomore Lindsey Rywolt has added another prestigious accolade to her growing list of accomplishments, earning Scholar All-America honors from the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA), as announced by the organization last week.
A Nursing major, Rywolt has excelled both on the mat and in the classroom, maintaining an impressive 3.42 cumulative grade-point average. Her academic success complements what was a standout campaign for the Purple Knights.
Rywolt compiled a stellar 24-7 overall record during the 2025-26 season, establishing herself as one of the top competitors in her weight class. She secured her place at the NCAA Championships with a masterful performance at regionals, where she went 4-1 and captured a third-place finish.
Rywolt's regional run was highlighted by a decisive pin in the third-place match, clinching her berth on the national stage. She followed that up with another pin in the first round of the NCAA Championships.
Criteria to Earn NWCA Scholar All-America Honors:
- 3.5 cumulative GPA and has competed in a minimum of 10 matches
- 3.25 cumulative GPA and NCAA qualifier
- 3.0 cumulative GPA and top-8 NCAA finisher
