BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Capping off a mid-week three-game series, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team earned a pair of victories over Georgian Court on Thursday. The doubleheader sweep pushes the Purple Knights' record to 8-7 overall this season (4-2 CACC).
GAME ONE – Bridgeport 8, Georgian Court 1
The Purple Knights plated runs in each of the first five innings, building an early cushion they would never relinquish.
Bridgeport racked up 14 hits on the day, with several players leading the charge offensively.
Patrick Krempasky sparked the lineup with a 3-for-4 performance that included two runs scored and a double, while Anthony Armenia also tallied three hits and drove in a pair of runs.
Anthony Matturro chipped in with two hits and a team-high two RBIs, highlighted by an RBI double, and Liam O'Neal added two hits and scored twice atop the order.
Additional contributions came throughout the lineup, as Luke Meister and Ryan Baldwin each drove in a run, and Raymond Morales reached base twice with a hit and a walk. In total, six different Purple Knights recorded an RBI in the victory.
On the mound, Alex Abi-Zeid earned the win with a strong six-inning outing, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out five.
Joaquin Brasher closed things out with three scoreless innings of relief, fanning four to secure the victory.
GAME TWO – Bridgeport 8, Georgian Court 3
The Purple Knights scored in five of their six offensive innings, steadily building a lead they maintained throughout the afternoon.
Bridgeport produced eight hits in the victory, led by Michael Incontro's standout performance. The third baseman went a perfect 2-for-2 with a game-high three RBIs, including a two-run single in the fifth inning that helped extend the advantage.
Noah Williams also turned in a big day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Krempasky added two hits and crossed the plate twice.
Additional offensive contributions came from throughout the lineup, as Luke Meister recorded a hit, drove in a run and scored once, and Matturro chipped in with an RBI.
On the mound, Logan McGrath earned the win with five strong innings, allowing just two runs on three hits while striking out eight.
