Baseball Takes Series Finale at Jefferson, 11-8
Armenia launches two home runs, part of 17-hit performance (season-high) for UB.
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – In the final game of a weekend three-game series, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team earned an 11-8 win at Jefferson on Sunday. The conference triumph improves the Purple Knights' record to 9-9 overall this season and 5-4 in the CACC.
UB erupted for a season-best 17 hits and notched their third game of the year with double-digit runs, showcasing a balanced attack. In fact, each of UB's top seven hitters recorded at least one hit in the win.
Trailing 6-3 heading into the seventh inning, Bridgeport delivered a six-run frame to seize control of the contest. The rally was highlighted by a three-run home run from Anthony Armenia—his second long ball of the day—and an RBI single from Anthony Matturro, as the Purple Knights turned a deficit into a 9-6 lead.
Armenia led the offensive charge with a monster performance, going 3-for-4 with five RBIs and two home runs, while Patrick Krempasky added four hits and Matturro chipped in three hits and an RBI.
Jaden Echevarria and Luke Meister also contributed multi-hit efforts as UB's offense continued to pile on.
UB added two more runs in the eighth inning, highlighted by a solo home run from Raymond Morales and an RBI walk from Ryan Baldwin.
On the mound, Quentin Moreland earned the win in relief, tossing four innings while allowing three runs and helping the Purple Knights hold off a late push from Jefferson.
