LYNDHURST, N.J. – Beginning a fourth straight three-game CACC series, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team (9-11, 5-6 CACC) suffered a pair of defeats at Felician on Wednesday. The Purple Knights dropped contests by 8-6 and 3-1 margins.
GAME ONE – Felician 8, Bridgeport 6
The Purple Knights jumped out to a strong start, building a 3-1 lead through the first three innings. Anthony Matturro delivered an RBI single in the opening frame, Liam O'Neal launched a solo home run in the second, and aggressive baserunning helped produce another run in the third.
Felician answered emphatically in the bottom of the fourth, erupting for five runs to take control.
Bridgeport continued to battle, chipping away with two runs in the sixth—including an RBI walk from Matturro—and pulling within a single run at 7-6 in the seventh after capitalizing on a Golden Falcon error.
Patrick Krempasky piloted the UB offense with a 3-for-4 performance and two runs scored, while O'Neal added his homer and Matturro drove in a pair.
On the mound, Logan McGrath provided a steady effort in relief, allowing just two runs over four innings to keep UB within striking distance.
GAME TWO – Felician 3, Bridgeport 1 (Seven Innings)
In a game where offense was at a premium, the Purple Knights were limited to just three hits—all singles—while drawing seven walks.
UB struck first in the second inning, manufacturing a run as Anthony Armenia came home on an RBI groundout from Luke Meister.
Felician answered with a two-run fifth inning to take the lead before adding an insurance tally in the sixth.
Despite the loss, Brendan Palmer turned in a strong performance on the mound, allowing just two runs over five innings while striking out five to keep UB firmly within striking distance.
Ryan Baldwin, Michael Incontro and Matturro accounted for Bridgeport's three hits.
