LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Beginning a pivotal three-game conference series against Lincoln University, the University of Bridgeport's baseball team picked up a pair of road victories against the Lions on Saturday. UB's 7-3 and 3-0 triumphs pushes their conference record to 11-15 this season (15-22 overall).
GAME ONE – Bridgeport 7, Lincoln 3
After knotting the score at 1-1 in the third, Bridgeport seized full control with a six-run fifth inning.
Patrick Krempasky delivered the biggest blow of the frame with a two-run double before later finishing the day 3-for-5 with a game-high three RBIs.
The Purple Knights capitalized on timely hitting and defensive miscues to plate six runs in the fifth, building a commanding 7-1 advantage.
Vincenzo Della Porta also turned in a strong effort at the plate, going 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored, while Tyler Pennisi, Luke Meister, and Michael Incontro each contributed RBI and hits to fuel the offensive attack.
On the mound, Tyler Hodella earned the victory with a solid five-inning outing, allowing three runs on just three hits while striking out six.
Logan McGrath was dominant in relief, tossing four scoreless innings to secure the save and preserve the Purple Knights' lead down the stretch.
GAME TWO – Bridgeport 3, Lincoln 0
Sophomore Alex Bulger was sensational on the mound, turning in one of the finest outings of his career. The right-hander fired a one-hit complete-game shutout, allowing just two base runners while striking out four across seven dominant innings to keep Lincoln off the scoreboard.
Bridgeport provided all the offense Bulger would need early on. The Purple Knights struck first in the second inning before adding a pair of runs in the third, highlighted by an RBI single from Anthony Matturro, who later came around to score.
Matturro finished 2-for-3 with an RBI to pace the lineup alongside Meister, who also went 2-for-3 and drove in a run.
Patrick Krempasky continued his strong day at the plate following his standout performance in the opener, adding another hit and scoring a run in the finale.
