Road Proves Unkind To Purple Knights As Men's Hoops Falls At UDC, 91-81

Washington, D.C.-A trip to our Nation's Capital proved to be a tough one for the University of Bridgeport men's basketball team, as the Purple Knights saw their two-game winning streak snapped by the host University of the District of Columbia Firebirds, 91-81, on a chilly Wednesday night.  With the loss, the Purple Knights are now an even 10-10 overall and .500 in East Coast Conference play at 5-5.  UDC is also now 10-10 overall, and the win ups the Firebirds' ECC mark to 3-7.

Senior Eric Rankin (Bronx, N.Y.) led three Bridgeport players in double figures with 19 points on the evening.  Classmate Dennis Green (Bronx, N.Y.) added 18 points off the UB bench, and junior John Middleton (Atlantic City, N.J.) contributed 10 points.

UDC's Zackary Olukanni led five Firebirds in double-digit scoring and all scorers in the game with 26 points.

Up next, the UB men's basketball team will look to get back in the win column at home when they host St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday afternoon.  Action in Hubbell Gym is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.
