DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - In their final tune-up before postseason play, the University of Bridgeport's men's lacrosse team (9-6, 5-3 CACC) endured a 17-8 non-conference loss at Mercy on Wednesday.
With the regular season now complete, the third-seeded Purple Knights—marking the highest finish in program history—will head to second-seeded Chestnut Hill for the CACC Semifinals next Wednesday, April 29.
UB featured a balanced offensive performance on Wednesday with six different players accounting for its eight goals. Ashton Lankowski and Luciano Canino led the way with two goals apiece, while Lankowski also added an assist to finish with a team-best three points.
James Napoli contributed a goal and an assist, reaching the 200-point milestone for his career, while Hudsin DenHartog, Matthew Levantini, and Darien Fray each found the back of the net as well.
Defensively, the Purple Knights forced consistent pressure, with DenHartog, Liam O'Neill, Ryan Thomas, and Luca Runyan each recording three caused turnovers.
DenHartog also led the team with five ground balls, helping anchor a unit that totaled 14 caused turnovers overall.
