Softball Picked Second in 2026 CACC Preseason Coaches Poll
Purple Knights won the regular-season title a year ago with a 19-3 record.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – With the 2026 campaign just 30 days away, the University of Bridgeport's softball team was picked second in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's preseason coaches poll released on Wednesday.
The Purple Knights captured the CACC's regular-season title a year ago, dropping just three conference games while posting a dominant 19–3 league mark.
UB followed that run with its second straight NCAA Tournament appearance and fourth trip since 2020, ultimately finishing the season with a 33–16 overall record.
The 2026 roster features a strong blend of experience and new talent, highlighted by 13 returners and nine newcomers.
Leading the way is three-time CACC All-Conference selection and former Rookie of the Year Mya Jones, who enters her final season with a stellar .409 career batting average and 134 RBIs in more than 400 at-bats.
Another All-Conference standout Sydnee Perreault returns after hitting .313 last season while leading the nation in sacrifice bunts per game.
Guiding the Purple Knights once again is reigning CACC Coach of the Year Dawn Stearns, set to begin her 17th season at the helm in Bridgeport.
A full UB Softball season preview will be posted to UBKnights.com in mid-February.
