Brookville, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team took on the number three team in the nation on Wednesday afternoon on the road in the LIU Post Pioneers, and the Purple Knights came up on the short end of a 15-1 result. With the loss, UB is now 4-5 overall and 0-3 in East Coast Conference play. LIU Post ups its season mark to 8-2, and the Pioneers are 3-0 in the ECC.
UB's lone goal on the afternoon came from junior Lauren Mengel (Gilbertsville, Pa.) with 15:20 to play in the contest.
Senior goalkeeper Megan Carney (Norwalk, Conn.) made nine stops for the Purple Knights.
Up next, the UB women's lacrosse team will host Dowling College on Saturday evening at Knights Field. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
