Women’s Lacrosse Sets Program Record With 25 Goals in Senior Day Win Over AIC
Purple Knights move their record to 4-3 overall this season.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Celebrating their Senior Night in historic fashion, the University of Bridgeport's women's lacrosse team erupted for a program-record 25 goals on Friday in a decisive victory over American International College at Knights Field. The non-conference win improves the Purple Knights' record to 4-3 this season.
After the game was tied 4-4 midway through the first quarter, the Purple Knights seized complete control. UB closed the opening half on an 11-2 run to take a commanding 15-6 lead into the break.
Bridgeport never let up from there, later putting the finishing touches on the victory with an 8-0 run to end the contest.
A pair of freshmen powered the offensive explosion, as Payton Noack led all players with six goals while also tallying a game-high 10 draw controls, helping UB to a season-best 25 draw controls overall.
Dani Strong added a season-high five goals to go along with four draw controls and two caused turnovers, playing a major role on both ends of the field.
Emily Stuart orchestrated the attack with a team-high seven points behind three goals and four assists, while also contributing seven draw controls.
Tara Dimaio and Molly Blackadar each recorded hat tricks for the Purple Knights, who showcased balanced scoring with eight different goal scorers on the day.
