BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Beginning a stretch of three home games over the next seven days, the University of Bridgeport's women's soccer team earned a 3-0 win over Post University on Wednesday night. The decisive triumph pushes the Purple Knights' CACC record to 3-4-1 this season (3-6-4 overall).
In a game that featured 70% of possession for Bridgeport, UB outshot the Eagles by a 32-0 margin while also earning a 13-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The Purple Knights broke through in the 21st minute when Angelina Ledesma headed in her first career goal off a corner kick from Lily Rodriguez.
Rodriguez doubled the lead just nine minutes later, hammering in a shot from about 30 yards out. Sophomore Luiza Macedo notched the assist on Rodriguez's third goal of the season.
The Purple Knights continued to press after halftime, and Kamila Bono sealed the result in the 79th minute with an unassisted strike for her second goal of the season.
Junior midfielder Marit Blom, who has slid into UB's goalkeeper role, earned the win in her second start of the year. She didn't face a single shot.
