Volleyball Surges Past Jefferson, 3-1
Purple Knights move to 4-2 in the CACC this season.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Capping off a busy three-match week, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team earned a 3-1 conference victory (20-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-14) over Jefferson on Saturday afternoon inside Hubbell Gym. The win pushes the Purple Knights' CACC record to 4-2 this season.
Junior outside hitter Hailey Jessen was once again superb for the home squad. The Colorado native posted season-bests and team-bests in kills (24) and digs (18) while hitting a terrific .467.
Jessen's standout effort secured her seventh double-double of the year. She also climbed to third in the CACC in kills per set this season (3.41).
Freshman Layla Wood was also strong at the net, finishing with a season-high eight kills and five blocks, helping Bridgeport control the front row.
Setter Camdyn Cieszkiewicz fueled the offense with a season-best 48 assists, while Elaine DeLallo aided the defense with 13 digs and a service ace.
Freshman Madison Mohan added 10 kills at a .286 clip, and senior Lucia Tomiello contributed seven kills and four block assists.
As a team, the Purple Knights hit an impressive .318—their second-best mark of the season—while holding Jefferson to just .160.
After dropping the opening set, Bridgeport surged back to win the next three, highlighted by a gritty 26–24 third-set comeback and a dominant fourth set where they closed on a 15–5 run.
