Rindge, N.H.-After opening its inaugural season with a 9-8 win over American International last week, the University of Bridgeport men's lacrosse program suffered its first loss of 2023 on a cold and snowy Wednesday afternoon at Franklin Pierce University, as the Ravens (2-1) topped UB, 16-7.
After a 4-4 tie following the first 15 minutes of action, the hosts netted the only two tallies of the second quarter to take 6-4 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Purple Knights scored a man-up goal early in the third quarter, but from then on it was all Ravens on offense, as Franklin Pierce outscored UB, 10-2, the rest of the way.
Darien Fray (Fr., Uniondale, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights offense against the Ravens putting home three goals.
Junior Dewey Schoenfelder (Mt. Airy, Md.) added two goals on Wednesday after his trick at AIC.
Bridgeport's other goals came from James Napoli (Fr., Wantagh, N.Y.), who also added one assist and Tyne Hewlette (So., Bayshore, N.Y.).
Up next, the Bridgeport men's lacrosse team will play its first-ever home game a Knights Field on Sunday afternoon at 12 noon when the Purple Knights host St. Thomas Aquinas College.
