Men's Lacrosse Bested at Post in CACC Tournament's First Round, 15-12
Purple Knights have 2025 come to a close with a 7-8 overall record.
WATERBURY, Conn. – Playing in the CACC Tournament's first round for the second straight season, the fifth-seeded University of Bridgeport men's lacrosse team was defeated at fourth-seeded Post University on Monday by a score of 15-12. The Purple Knights' 2025 campaign ends with a 7-8 overall record.
It was a tough opening 18 minutes for UB that ultimately served as the difference in the game. The Purple Knights fell down 9-1 at the 12:19 mark of the second quarter before climbing their way back.
Bridgeport went on to outscore the Eagles, 11-6, over the final 41:29 of regulation but couldn't trim the deficit to less than three goals.
Matthew Levantini engineered the Bridgeport offense with one of his best games of the year. The junior finished with a season-high six points off five goals, also a season best, and one assist.
Freshman Stephen Trama, who was named the CACC's Rookie of the Week earlier this afternoon, finished second on UB with three tallies.
James Napoli, meanwhile, supplied a team-high four assists as he finishes his junior campaign as the team leader in total points with 43 (25G, 18A).
Ashton Lankowski and Hunter Lizza also performed well for the road squad on Monday with three points apiece. Lankowski posted his contributions via two goals and an assist while Lizza dished out a trio of helpers.
Lankowski finishes 2025 tied for the team lead in goals (25) while Lizza managed UB's second-most assists (16) this season.
On the other side of the ball, sophomore goalkeeper Casey Dmochowski finished with 16 saves in net. He had previously only reached that total twice this season.
Dmochowski finishes his year ranked sixth in the CACC in saves per game (12.0).
