Volleyball Sweeps at Holy Family for Fourth Straight Win
Purple Knights have now won six of their last seven matches.
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Entering the afternoon on a three-match winning streak, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team continued its momentum on Saturday with a 3-0 victory (25-11, 25-23, 25-15) at Holy Family University. The Purple Knights, who have now won six of their last seven contests, improve to 7-2 in the CACC this season.
A masterful performance from Hailey Jessen sparked one of UB's most impressive efforts of the year. The junior finished with 18 kills, nine digs and three aces while hitting a sensational .457.
Jessen continues to rank third in the CACC in kills per set (3.53) this season while sitting at fourth in the league in aces per set (.50) and 10th in hitting percentage (.220).
Freshman Madison Mohan joined Jessen in double-figure kills (10) while classmate Camdyn Cieszkiewicz handed out a superb 42 assists.
Cieszkiewicz has climbed into sixth in the CACC in assists per set (7.35) this season. In fact, she has reached at least the 32-mark in five consecutive matches.
More contributors for UB included Layla Wood and Lucia Tomiello each adding seven kills. Tomiello did so without making an error for a team-best .636 hitting percentage.
On the defensive side of things, freshman Cecilia Kowalski was superb. The Illinois native tallied a season-high seven total blocks, including a pair of solo efforts.
Kowalski also added five kills while junior Elaine DeLallo led the Purple Knights with 10 digs in the match.
Collectively, Bridgeport made just five errors en route to a season-high .494 hitting percentage.
