Volleyball Defeated by Goldey-Beacom, 3-1, on Senior Day
Purple Knights move to 7-4 in the CACC this season.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Playing their final home match of the regular season, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team dropped a four-set matchup (19-25, 14-25, 25-17, 21-25) to Goldey-Beacom College on Saturday. The loss shifts the Purple Knights' record to 7-4 in the CACC this season.
Junior Hailey Jessen once again powered the Purple Knights' offense with an impressive 20 kills while hitting .286, adding seven digs and three block assists for a match-high 21.5 points.
Jessen continues to rank third in the CACC in kills per set (3.45) this season. She is also slotted eighth in the conference in aces (36).
After Jessen, it was four freshmen supplementing the UB attack.
Madison Mohan and Layla Wood each chipped in eight kills while setter Camdyn Cieszkiewicz finished with 38 assists to go with a service ace and four digs.
Another rookie, Cecilia Kowalski, rattled off five kills to go along with a team-best five blocks.
Also, on the defensive side of things, libero Elaine DeLallo picked up 16 digs. She launched three service aces as well.
After dropping the opening two sets, UB responded in dominant fashion during the third frame, hitting .435 and cruising to a 25–17 win.
The Purple Knights continued to push Goldey-Beacom in the fourth, keeping the set tight until the visitors pulled away late to seal the match.
