Men's Lacrosse Drops Conference Clash at Post, 18-11
Seven different Purple Knights combine for their 11 goals.
WATERBURY, Conn. – In a rematch of last year's CACC Tournament first round, the University of Bridgeport's men's lacrosse team (4-7, 1-4 CACC) suffered an 18-11 defeat at Post University on Saturday.
Seven different Purple Knights combined to score their 11 goals while 10 different players recorded at least one point for the road squad.
James Napoli, who piled up 10 points in a win over STAC earlier this week, scored a team-high three goals on Saturday. Napoli now leads the Purple Knights in total points this season (25).
Stephen Trama and Matthew Levantini, meanwhile, each chipped in a team-best four points against Post. Trama had two goals and two assists while Levantini dished out four helpers.
James Goodrich served as UB's final multi-goal scorer with a pair of tallies to go along with an assist.
Kevin Dromm, Joe Martin, Ryan Thomas and Ashton Lankowski all finished the day with one goal apiece. Thomas also led the Purple Knights in both caused turnovers (4) and ground balls (7). Connor Cullen nabbed seven ground balls as well.
Thomas continues to lead UB and rank second in the CACC in both total caused turnovers (30) and CTs per game (2.73) this season.
Sophomore goalkeeper Casey Dmochowski finished with a season-high 19 saves. He now ranks fourth in the CACC in total stops this season (134).
Post scored the first three goals of the game before UB tied the score up at 4-4 in the second quarter. The Eagles then put together a 5-2 run to take a 9-6 lead at the break.
Leading 12-10 after three quarters, Post closed the contest with a 6-1 stretch.
