Volleyball Falls Short to Adelphi, 3-1
Purple Knights won the third set, 25-22, but were unable to extend the match any further.
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Playing against one of the perennial top teams in the East Region, the University of Bridgeport's volleyball team suffered a four-set defeat (18-25, 17-25, 25-22, 20-25) to Adelphi University on Thursday night.
It was an incredibly balanced performance for UB as three different Purple Knights finished with at least 10 kills and seven different players tallied at least five digs.
Freshmen Cecilia Kowalski and Camdyn Cieszkiewicz both put together season-bests in a plethora of statistical categories.
Kowalski posted season-highs in kills (10), hitting percentage (.529) and blocks (5) while Cieszkiewicz posted year-bests in assists (38) and aces (4).
Another UB rookie, Madison Mohan, led the Purple Knights in kills on the night (13) while junior Hailey Jessen registered 11 put-aways and a team-best five aces.
Jessen, who recently surpassed 1,000 career kills, currently ranks seventh in the CACC in kills per set (3.05) this season.
Collectively, the Purple Knights earned their second highest hitting percentage of the year (.203) and piled up their second-most most aces (12).
